Monday, April 28, 2008Sketch #308 Here's a third imitation of the Edward Burne-Jones study which I used as a reference a couple of times earlier this month. She strikes me as a younger sister of the woman in my sketch of April 14. |

Tuesday, April 22, 2008Sketch #307 I couldn't quite get the sketch the way I wanted it on paper, so ended up going all out with the digital editing, resulting in the picture to the right. The original sketch can be viewed here. |

Friday, April 18, 2008Sketch #306b (in color) I decided to see what the previous sketch would look like with some digital color added. I think red hair suits her :) |

Thursday, April 17, 2008Sketch #306 This woman seems to be interested in something off to the left ... maybe I'll expand the picture at some point and bring in the object of her attention. |

Tuesday, April 15, 2008Sketch #305: "Caught in the Breeze, Version 2" Here's a somewhat different take on the same windswept hair theme as that the sketch I posted on April 12. |
||
Monday, April 14, 2008Sketch #304: "A Second Attempt" The sketch that I posted on April 4, though almost certainly better than it would otherwise have been for my having used a classic Edward Burne-Jones study as a reference, fell short of what I wanted it to be, so here is another based on the same reference. |
||
Saturday, April 12, 2008Sketch #303: "Caught in the Breeze" I suppose this might be more typically thought of as a fall scene, but we get some pretty good breezes in April too. |
||
Saturday, April 5, 2008Sketch #302 I drew more lightly than I usually do for this sketch. One of the advantages of this approach is that it makes correcting mistakes easier - not that I caught them all. The chin line, for one, looks a little off, but I still think I like this one better than any of the others I've drawn recently. |

Friday, April 4, 2008Sketch #301 This sketch is loosely based on one by the 19th century English Artist Edward Burne-Jones (study for the Queen in Death of Arthur, image obtained from ArtRenewal.org). Although not as well-known as say Renoir or Rembrand, Edward Burne-Jones is one of my very favorite classical artists. He did a lot of excellent fantasy paintings. |

Wednesday, April 2, 2008Sketch #300: "Eve and the Apple" I thought the Garden of Eden would look a lot more appropriate in color (gray apples aren't very tempting), so I made the necessary digital enhancements to the original sketch. Ted |

Tuesday, March 25, 2008Sketch #299 Well, one more sketch to go to reach 300. I'll try to come up with something special for the next one :) Ted |

Tuesday, March 11, 2008Sketch #298 I tried using the mesh warp tool a bit to correct a smile that did not turn up enough at the corner on one side and to reduce the size of a somewhat-too-large eye in this sketch. It's not a perfect solution, however, as too much mesh warp tends to produce a blurry, fuzzy image, but I did end up prefering the digitally altered version to the original. Ted |

Monday, March 10, 2008Sketch #297 Here's a tracing of an initial attempt with a fair amount of digital editing thrown in. Ted |

Friday, February 29, 2008Sketch #296 Here's another "woman in the wilderness" sketch. Ted |

Saturday, February 16, 2008Sketch #295 Having run out of previously drawn sketches to post, I actually got around to creating a new one. It felt good to be drawing again. I'll try to do so more frequently. Ted |

Thursday, January 24, 2008Sketch #294 Here's the first "new" sketch I've posted in a while, as I've been busy with some other projects. I actually drew it back in November. I hope to increase the frequency of my sketching/posting at least somewhat in the not-too-distant future. I am somewhat curious to find out just how badly my sketching skills have atrophied from neglect :) Ted |
