Thursday, November 30, 2006Sketch #181 I've been experimenting with the "uncombed hair over the eyes" look. It seemed awkward to draw at first, but it's getting easier. Ted |

Tuesday, November 28, 2006Sketch #180 I thought this sketch had nice features overall, but could use some enhancement, so I went digital on it in a major way with Corel Photopaint and Paintshop Pro after scanning it into the computer. For the curious, the original image I scanned from the drawing can be viewed here. Ted |

Saturday, November 25, 2006Sketch #179 Here's another shot at a right-facing profile. I think I like it better than sketches #172 and #173, though perhaps not as much as #175. I think the chin came out somewhat better than that in #175, but I think the eyes and especially the lips fared somewhat worse. Ted |

Thursday, November 23, 2006Sketch #178 There are some thingsI like about this sketch and some that I don't, but it's better than the one I almost posted before I drew this one :) Ted |

Tuesday, November 21, 2006Sketch #177 Having gone a few days without sketching, I can see how easily old habits return as I notice that I went a bit too dark around the eye areas and drew the nose a bit too long as well. On the plus side, I rather like the way the her hair turned out :) Ted |

Friday, November 17, 2006Sketch #176 I've drawn better mouths, but I think the eyes and the overall expression turned out quite nice on this sketch. I added another batch of female face avatars based on some of my sketches to my ViewMyArt.com site today. Ted |

Thursday, November 16, 2006Sketch #175 And back to the side view ... I think this sketch is an improvement over #172 and #173, each of which suffered a bit from a chin that went too far back towards the back of the head and a gap between the nose and the lips that was perhaps a bit too large. Ted |

Wednesday, November 15, 2006Sketch #174 I think the woman in this sketch looks like she might be an interesting character. Ted |

Tuesday, November 14, 2006Sketch #173 Another day, another profile. I think I like the nose better than that in yesterday's post. Ted |
|
Monday, November 13, 2006Sketch #172 I've rarely drawn sketches in the "profile" view. I will have to try to do so more often - I could use the practice. Ted |
|
Friday, November 10, 2006Sketch #171 I like this closeup better than the one I posted Tuesday. The face is more expressive and the eyes are cleaner. Ted |

Thursday, November 9, 2006Sketch #170 It's still harder for me to draw the subject facing the right of the page, but it is getting less so with practice. Maybe after a few more hundred sketches or so it will be easy :) I thought the eyes turned out fairly well this time, but I think I may have placed them just a little too far apart. Ted |

Tuesday, November 7, 2006Sketch #169 There were some elements of this sketch I liked and some I did not. Here it is after a close cropping and a lot of digital editing. Ted |
|
Monday, November 6, 2006Sketch #168 I think the subject of this sketch might be having a bad hair day, but she doesn't seem to mind :) Ted |
|
Thursday, November 2, 2006Sketch #167 I like the eyes better on this sketch better than the one I posted yesterday, but I think the neck on yesterday's was better. Ted |
|
Wednesday, November 1, 2006Sketch #166 I really need more practice with the subject looking off to the right of the page, hence the orientation of the sketch posted today. (I could, of course, just use the "mirror image" feature on the computer to reverse the orientation, but that would be cheating). Ted |
