Saturday, December 30, 2006Sketch #195 Well, here's the last sketch for this year, but I hope to draw a lot more in 2007. Ted |

Friday, December 29, 2006Sketch #194 This is the first sketch I've posted where the subject is wearing glasses. It was an interesting challenge. I hope to get more practice in drawing "accessories" (hats, glasses, whatever). Ted |

Wednesday, December 27, 2006Sketch #193 I've been using Notebound 2HB pencils for the past couple of sketches, as opposed to the HB pencils I was using before. The 2HB's are harder which in some ways is less desireable, but the offsetting advantage is they last longer before I need to switch pencils or re-sharpen, which means less distraction and less chance of flaws due to a dull point. I'll probably switch back and forth a bit. Ted |

Friday, December 22, 2006Sketch #192: "Woman in Santa Suit" Merry Christmas to all! Ted |

Wednesday, December 20, 2006Sketch #191 Here's a closeup sketch with some digital enhancement (added some color, strengthened highlights, whitened the teeth a bit). Ted |

Tuesday, December 19, 2006Sketch #190 A woman stares straight ahead as sunlight dances in her hair:) Ted |

Monday, December 18, 2006Sketch #189 Despite eyes having eyes that turned out to be a little disproportionately large for her face, I do think the woman in this sketch has a nice smile. Ted |

Saturday, December 16, 2006Sketch #188 I think subject of this profile looks a little elfin in her features, especially the ear. Ted |
|
Friday, December 15, 2006Sketch #187 I could not resist applying substantial digital manipulation to this sketch - I think "dark and mysterious" look suits her. The original drawing can be viewed here. Ted |

Tuesday, December 12, 2006Sketch #186 I think I drew the nose (and consequentially the face) a bit too long in this sketch (old habits die hard). On the positive side, I like her expression. Ted |

Thursday, December 7, 2006Sketch #185: "Ice Princess" While playing around with the effects in Corel Photopaint, I ended up giving this sketch a blue tinge, which I thought made the subject appear rather cold, hence the name "Ice Princess". Ted |

Wednesday, December 6, 2006Sketch #184 In the light of 20/20 hindsight, I would have drawn the eyes smaller in this sketch. As it is, there seems to be just a little too much white showing. Ted |

Monday, December 4, 2006Sketch #183 This is the first sketch I've posted in quite some time where the subject's ear is visible. As I find ears quite challenging to draw, I've tended to just cover them with hair, but today I decided to be brave and leave one exposed for all the world to see :) Ted |

Friday, December 1, 2006Sketch #182 At one point the subject of this sketch actually had rather short hair. Then I decided to make it just a bit longer here and there, and then I needed to lengthen it a bit in other spots for balance, and then ... Well, suffice to say, she is having more of a bad hair day than a short hair day :) Ted |
