Wednesday, February 28, 2007Sketch #227 After Monday's post, I couldn't resist attempting another drawing of Constance Monti Perticari (minus the hat this time). Mr. Agricola truly painted a masterpiece. I will almost certainly revisit this subject in the future. Ted |

Monday, February 26, 2007Sketch #226 I used a portion of the 1821 oil painting Constance Monti Perticari by Italian painter Fillippo Agricola as my inspiration/model for this sketch. For a peek at the original, click here. (I cropped the image from a larger version at Artrenewal.org, an excellent source for that sort of thing). Ted |

Friday, February 23, 2007Sketch #225 A young woman wanders through a wilderness landscape with a flower tucked into her hair. Ted |

Thursday, February 22, 2007Sketch #224 Here's another red-hued lass. I think I prefer this sketch to the one in Wednesday's posting. She looks happier :) Ted |
Wednesday, February 21, 2007Sketch #223 I thought this sketch looked better after a bit of digital adjustment, especially in adding the red hue. It makes me think of a desert setting with the sun just creeping below the horizon. Ted |
Monday, February 19, 2007Sketch #222 She gazes intently into the distance. What is she pondering? I can't really say :) Ted |
Friday, February 16, 2007Sketch #221 I like the background in this sketch is better than that in #219. It looks like it is further back, thus conveying more of a sense of depth. Ted |
Thursday, February 15, 2007Sketch #220: "Lady in Red" I did a fair amount of post-scan digital editing on this sketch, adding (among other things) a decidedly red tint. Ted |
Tuesday, February 13, 2007Sketch #219 I'm starting to really enjoy adding backgrounds to my sketches. I'll probably do that a lot more in future sketches. Ted |
Monday, February 12, 2007Sketch #218 Here's another "beauty in the wilderness" themed sketch with some digital effects added. Ted |
Saturday, February 10, 2007Sketch #217 I think the woman in this sketch probably has the happiest expression of those I've drawn this month. Ted |
Friday, February 9, 2007Sketch #216 I've tended to have all of the subject's hair going off to the left of the page when drawing this pose, so I thought I'd mix things up a bit by and have a few strands falling off to the right. Ted |
Wednesday, February 7, 2007Sketch #215: "William Tell's Sister" I haven't usually drawn much of a background in my sketches, but I thought a wilderness landscape would go well with this woman and her felt cap. (I don't know if William Tell really even had a sister, but this is how I envision she might have looked if she did indeed exist). Ted |
Monday, February 5, 2007Sketch #214 I drew the subject in this sketch with a less defined chin than usual, but I think it works for her. I began with the idea of mostly straight hair, but I added progressively more curl/wave as I went along. Ted |
Friday, February 2, 2007Sketch #213 I think the woman in this sketch ended up with a softer, more natural look than many of the others I've posted. I used the eraser rather extensively to add or strengthen highlights in the hair. Ted |
Thursday, February 1, 2007Sketch #212 I thought I'd draw this young lady in a "windswept hair" pose. In retrospect, however, I see at least one thing I'd do differently - I think I should have drawn some of her hair blowing across her face rather than having it all go neatly down and around the back as it is. Oh well, maybe next time :) Ted |
